We worship together as a large group to declare and demonstrate the greatness of God by devoting ourselves to understanding and celebrating the gospel of Jesus Christ.
See seek to accomplish this goal by:
There are two important pairs of words in the above statement. These are “declare and demonstrate” and “understanding and celebrating.” These pairs go hand in hand, with “the greatness of God” holding them together in the middle.
God shows the world his greatness through his spoken word and his mighty works. He declares and demonstrates who he is. We want to reflect that reality back to him and to one another when we gather as the church. Therefore, we see the spoken word, whether through a sermon or a song, to be the key component to communicating truth about God’s greatness.
We want to demonstrate his greatness as well. Participating in the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism are crystal clear demonstrations of God’s great work of salvation for his people. We also want to demonstrate the greatness of God through the way we interact with one another, the way we speak, the way we love, and the way we serve.
Necessarily tied to the first pair of words, is the second, “understanding and celebrating.” We believe that this is the pattern through which God-honoring worship happens. God has spoken and he has worked in this world in such a way that we can constantly receive information about him. He is not silent! And he has spoke and worked most clearly and loudly in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is our eternally beneficial task now to understand the multifaceted beauty of the gospel. As God grants us greater understanding of the gospel, we believe a greater sense of celebration will erupt from our souls.
If you would be so kind as to share your Sunday morning with us at Living Proof, please know that this is our goal for the time that we have together in the worship service. We hope you will join us sometime soon.
